Gardening
The Friends of Priory Park are a friendly group of of up to12 volunteers, we have a lot of fun and enjoy making a difference to the park.
We meet at the green hut between the tennis courts, depending on the weather, 11am- 13.00pm every Sunday morning.
You will always find us working away somewhere in the park, so please stop and say hello.

We have a wide variety of tools and equipment you can use while working in the park.

We also welcome Duke of Edinburgh award students, working towards their volunteering bronze, silver or gold awards. We have had four students over the last few years which has proved very successful.

From 2020, we have been caring for the rose beds between the tennis courts, and in another three beds. Digging out the three-foot thistles and dead-heading was our first job.
Then we pruned back hard, and spread mulch to keep in the moisture.

Since autumn 2023 the Volunteers have been working hard restoring the long neglected heritage S beds, planting out with shrubs and perennials donated from the Finsbury Park Nursery. Spring of 2024 the beds were weeded and mulched, The shrubs are slowly becoming established and providing colour and interest again.
Thanks to the public for all the encouraging comments!
November 10th 2024 an army of volunteers from TCV and FOPP along with key council staff planted a new hedge along the fence of the newly refurbished tennis courts. A wall of lavender has also been planted along the raised bed. This replaced the leylandii hedge that had to be removed due the refurbishment of the tennis courts.
If you would like to get involved, you might also like to help us with litter picking.
Anyone working in the park should familiarise themselves with these Health & Safety rules.
